Concert for Overgate Hospice December 2015

It was a full house again at St. John's Church Rastrick on Saturday 5th December, when an enthusiastic audience gathered to enjoy a wonderful concert of music for Christmas, sacred and secular, given by Rastrick's High School's choir and guitar ensemble.

It was easy to see why Rastrick High is known for its outstanding music! The choirs were conducted by their Director, Mrs. Alison Pryce-Jones, with her accompanist David Hall. Peter Cain led the guitar ensemble.

The annual concert, organised by Upper Edge Baptist Church to support Overgate Hospice was held at St. John's to accommodate the large number of performers and supporters.

The various ensembles - Full Choir, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Chamber Choir and Year 7/8 Boys Choir - sang a wide range of music arranged for many different parts, including songs such as 'Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree' and 'From A Distance'. Not only was the music uplifting and moving, it was complex, adventurous, perfectly in tune and showcased the best of what the school can offer. George Jenkins, a Year 12 student, sang a magnificent solo accompanied by the full choir during the singing of a gospel number 'Change In My Life'.

Rev. Marion Russell welcomed the audience on behalf of St. John's.

£1,126.42 was donated during the evening, and the Baptist Church added money collected during the year, making a total of £1,456.42. Rev. Lee Reddyhoff presented a cheque to Angela Curran, a volunteer from Overgate Hospice.
