On Monday 30th March, 25 Year 6 students, who will be joining us in September, attended an action packed day, as they participated in our Easter Eggs-travaganza.
The day was fun-filled, and allowed the students to get to know the school, staff and start to make some new friends in plenty of time before the start of the new academic year. It also allowed them to get a taster of what to expect at our summer activity sessions, Summer Cool, which takes place in the first two weeks of the summer holidays.
Throughout the day, the students were tasked with creating their own Easter chocolate company with the help of some of our Year 7s who attended last year's Summer Cool. Once they had decided on their company, they had to choose a name and design a logo before they got down to the serious business of designing and making their Easter chocolates. However, the added challenge was that they had a strict budget to adhere to and had to aim to make as much profit as possible. Once they had finished, they had to present their company and designs to our three dragons, Mr McConnell, Miss Lott and Mr Watson, who had the difficult job of choosing the winning design. The winners this year were the superb Whoppa Chocka Company, with their innovate design and catchy name.
Mr Watson, who organised the event, said: "The students demonstrated some excellent imagination and creativity throughout the day. This, coupled with their fantastic efforts and superb team work meant that every group was very successful. I've no doubt if they maintain this when they start at RHS, they will be a great group of students."
We're really looking forward to seeing all of these students and more at Summer Cool 2015!
