GCSE highest percentage of top grades ever!

There are many smiling, happy faces at Rastrick High School as the GCSE results were announced today.

High achiever Ella Fitt gained the new, top grade 9 in English, English Literature and Maths, under the new grading system making Ella one of only 2,000 students in the country to achieve this. She backed this up with 7A*s and a Distinction* in IT. Ella felt nervous this morning as she collected her results but was soon all smiles saying, “I am really happy and very proud of myself. I did not think anyone in Calderdale would get the new grade 9 and I cannot believe I got it in all three subjects! I’ve been getting good grades all year and have put a lot of work in so I am so pleased - all the effort was worth it as it has paid off.”

Sean Reilly is to study A Levels at Rastrick Sixth Form in the Sciences and Music and says, “I’m ecstatic! I’m going to study for my A Levels with the aim of going to University and eventually becoming a Science Teacher.” He gained 3A*s and 2 grade 8s, 4As and a grade 7, a Distinction* in IT.

On opening her envelope to find out she had 1A* & a grade 8, 5 As & a grade 7 plus a merit in IT, Molly Dodson said, “I was crying before I even opened them as I was so nervous, but I’ve done better than I thought so am really pleased.”

With a view to becoming a Pharmacist, Mohammed Sulaiman says he was “absolutely speechless!” at his results gaining a grade 8, 4 As & 2 grade 7s and a Distinction in IT to name a few.

Steve Evans, Headteacher is delighted with the results saying, “Today’s results are the best results ever achieved by the school, with a very pleasing factor being that we have the highest percentage of top grades ever achieved. These outstanding results demonstrate the hard work of our students, support of their parents and the dedication and expertise of our fantastic staff.”
