Jess wins Order of Merit

Year 9 student, Jess Hosking,  is a keen golfer and a member of Huddersfield Golf Club, in Fixby. She spends many hours playing, practising and working out throughout the year in order to improve her game.

Having made her full debut for Yorkshire this year she has had a great season with her handicap reduced by 11 shots to 15. (2 worse than her Dad!)

On Sunday 25 September, she entered the final event in the Yorkshire Girls golfing season at Woodsome Hall Golf Club.

There are 6 events across the year with points awarded depending on finishing position, and the highest points scorer over the year being the winner of the Order of Merit. Jess was leading her division by  just 3 points following wins earlier in the season at both Leeds GC and The Oaks GC.  Not wanting to leave things to chance on Sunday, Jess scored a fantastic 37 stableford points to win the event, securing the maximum 10 points available and secure the Order of Merit Title for 2016.

Having finished second in 2015, Jess was delighted to go one better and reap the rewards of all the hard work she puts in. She even made a very good speech!

Jess can be seen being awarded with her trophy by Lady President of the YLCGA, Heather Cawdry.

Congratulations Jess - a well deserved win! Team RHS
