Super Speed Networking Event

Year 11 students at Rastrick High School took part in an innovative event today, which involved them taking part in a speed networking event.

The event involved 15 local, national and multi-national companies, ranging from Crosslee PLC, Cummins Turbo Technologies, Howarth’s People and Safety Management and the Lloyds Banking group. Alisa Brown of NYBEP who brought the companies together explained that the aim of the event is to help young people understand more about the world of work and identify the pathways and opportunities to them upon leaving education. Whilst taking part, students also get a valuable insight in to a wide variety of job roles that they may never have considered.

Rastrick Ward Councillor, Christine Beal joined the event this morning and said, “It was a pleasure to see Rastrick High leading the way in practical and motivational career guidance and development. Employers' real requirements and opportunities met with the students' curiosity to discover more and their huge potential as part our future workforce.  It was a fantastic insight into the vast range of opportunities that STEM subjects can offer and the many paths that can lead to a satisfying career. You could see light bulb moments happening all around the room!”.

Steve Evans, Rastrick High School Headteacher, stated "The school is committed to producing young people who have a good grounding in what it takes to be successful in the 21st century workplace. I would like to thank all the companies who gave up their time today and hope that this is just the start of an enriching relationship between the school and the companies represented today."
