Rastrick Students' success in Halifax Rugby Cup Final

Rastrick High students Ciaran McFarland, Jordan Hema, Daniel McGrath, Oliver Peterkin and Daryl Lappage, whilst being part of our school rugby team, have also played exceptionally well for the Brighouse Rangers all season.

They fought hard against Siddal Under 13's to reach the Halifax Cup Final, which was played on Sunday 18 October at Hopwood Lane Ground in Halifax.

Match Report 

Kings Cross u13s 4 v Brighouse Rangers u13s 52.

Straight from the kick off Rangers half back Robbie Butterworth found touch. From the resulting scrum loose forward Joe Porter picked the ball up to power over for the first try, Butterworth converted.
Forwards Nathan Smith, Josh Riley, Tom Oldroyd, and William Clerehugh set up standoff Oliver Peterkin on a weaving run to score , Butterworth converted.
Again Rangers marched down field with Jack Wake, Daryl Lappage, Cieran McFarland making good progress,  Will  Clerehugh picked the ball up from acting half sold a outrageous dummy to leave the Cross defence flat footed to score,  Butterworth converted.
From the resulting kick off Fred Woodhouse caught the ball and set off on a unstoppable run handing off defender after defender to score a fine individual try, Butterworth converted.
Rangers full back Lucas Birts ran the ball back strongly has did wingers Morley Crossley and Cieran McFarland. Once again Rangers attack made good yards and with Will Clerehugh half tackled he off loaded to Robbie Butterworth who wriggled over to score in the first half.
Much of the same with Peterkin and Woodhouse scoring tries , Butterworth converting one. Half time 38 v 0.
To there credit it was all Kings Cross in the second half,  Daniel McGrath and Jack Wake, Jordan Hema, George Langley - Webb and Ellis Collins for Rangers tackled strongly to prevent Cross from scoring.
From the last tackle Butterworth kicked through Woodhouse followed up to tackle and dislodge the ball from the Cross fullback , swott off two defender's to score,  Butterworth converted.
Kings Cross began to make good yardage and scored out wide.
With the clock running down Rangers stand off Peterkin burst through the defence to score out wide he missed the conversion to finish the scoring 52 v 4.
Man of the match from Brighouse rangers u13s was Fred Woodhouse his 4 tries and strong defence caught the eye.
