Summer Cool 2016

Our annual summer school (known as Summer Cool!) took place over the summer holidays from the 27 July to 5 August.

Summer Cool provides our new Year 7s with an excellent opportunity to get to make new friends and get to know the school and key staff in preparation for starting at secondary school in September in a fun environment.

This year, activities were very varied. Students participated in sessions from street dance to cooking and from rocket building to drama with Shakespeare. Once again, Mr McConnell led the ever popular games competitions, with students taking part in Simon Says, Splat, Connect4 and Giant Jenga competitions throughout the eight days.

Cow9OnoWEAAUCMWAs ever, the students were split into two teams, one led by Mr McConnell (Einsteins) and the other led by Sadhana Patel, who leads the Summer School, and Mr Watson (Dream Team). After eight days of fierce competition, it was Dream Team who edged the win for the fourth year running, much to the delight of Mr Watson and his team members.

Mr Watson, who coordinates the school's transition programmes said: "It was excellent to see so many of our new Year 7s benefit from Summer Cool again and to get to meet so many parents at our end of Summer Cool BBQ. It is great to see the students develop in confidence over the eight days and I have no doubts these students are ready for the challenge of moving into secondary school and will do so very successfully."

Watch we we got up to here

We say roll on Summer Cool 2017!
