Textiles & Photography project with Field Lane Primary
Seven students from Rastrick Sixth Form have recently taken their artistic talents to Field Lane Primary School to work with students and staff on a Textiles and Photography project. The aim of the collaborative work was to produce pieces of art to be displayed within the school hall.
The pupils have learnt textile techniques such as block printing, pattern cutting and sewing as well as a select group of students that got to take a course in taking and editing photographs in order to produce a storyboard of the event.
Rastrick Student, Emily Drake said; “It was a really exciting week. We had spent lots of time preparing resources for the students and it was fantastic to see them working so hard and producing amazing pieces of work to a really high standard. It was especially nice working with the Year 6’s, many of whom are moving up to Rastrick High School in September, so leaving their work as a legacy at the school was extra special. Hopefully we will be able to keep the work experience going for future groups, working with even more schools in the area.”
Vanessa Deer, Headteacher at Field Lane, commented, “It has been a pleasure to have the RHS students working in school. They have impresses us all with their organisation and creativity and the end produce will really enliven our hall environment.
Year 5 Class Teacher, Francesca Hoyle added, “it has been an excellent project for the children to be involved with. The RHS students were really organised and worked well with the children and the end product looks amazing!”« Back to News
