Year 6s Sample Life at RHS
As part of our enhanced transition this year, all 300 of our new intake were invited to spend a full week at secondary school.
The cohort of students, who will be starting with us in September 2017, joined us on Transition Day, before stopping for the whole of the next week, following a real-life Year 7 timetable.
This additional week allowed students to sample our excellent, engaging and challenging secondary school lessons, as well as giving them a greater understanding of the school and how life at secondary school works, as well as an even bigger opportunity to make new friends, ready for starting in September.
Students experienced lessons in every department, from Maths to DT, and English to Music; students saw the wide variety of lessons that they will experience in September. Students were challenged to solve a murder with real CSI techniques in Science, and learnt about how to keep safe online in ICT.
Mr Carey, the year group's Achievement Leader, rounded off the week with some celebration assemblies to show off the excellent work produced, and the fantastic achievements of our first ever cohort to sample a transition week.
One parent commented: 'Transition Week has been a great idea, my daughter now feels more confident about starting at Rastrick and cannot wait until September.'
We look forward to welcoming the students as our new Year 7 on Tuesday 5 September.« Back to News
